Our physiotherapists have extensive training and experience in treating sports injuries.
Initially the physiotherapist will perform an assessment to determine the nature, severity and extent of your injury. The therapist will also assess the impact the injury has had on your athletic activities and daily life.
Next, the physiotherapist will prepare a treatment plan that may include modalities, exercises, mobilizations/manipulations, taping, electrotherapy, acupuncture and other techniques that help to address pain and promote soft tissue healing.
Do I need a doctor’s referral for treatment?
No, there is no need for a physician referral.
How long is the course of treatment?
As no two injuries are the same, every person will heal at a different pace. Our goal is to have you return to your athletic activities as quickly as possible.
How is sports physiotherapy different?
Sports injuries do differ to everyday injuries. Athletes normally require high level performance and demand placed upon their body, which stresses their muscles, joints and bones to the limit. Sports physiotherapists help athletes recover from sporting injuries, and provide education and resources to prevent problems.
Each sports physiotherapist usually has sport-specific knowledge that addresses acute, chronic and overuse injuries. Their services are generally available to sports men and women of all ages engaged in sports at any level of competition.
